“The DREAM Act” is legislation that intends to legalize the immigration status of young people that were brought here through no fault of their own.”

DREAM stands for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors. The legislation was introduced to Congress in 2001 and has seen a few revisions since. There are a few different versions of this legislation on the state-level. Music City Visas can help answer all of your DREAM Act questions and get you on the road to permanent residency.

Basically, the DREAM Act would allow immigrants, with the status of a minor, who are currently residing in the United States, to obtain temporary residency. If the individual continues to meet certain requirements after a six year period of temporary residency they may be able to establish themselves as a permanent resident of the United States.

Over the years the law has become more complex, changed and incorporated into other pieces of legislation. There are a number of stipulations and conditions that must be met for young people to become eligible and work their way to full residency.

The Law Offices of Sean Lewis can work with young immigrants and their families to educate them on what they need to do so they can qualify under the DREAM Act.
