Sean Lewis frequently gives presentations at continuing legal education seminars on various immigration topics. Because immigration law is complex and constantly changing, this office also offers private trainings for new attorneys or attorneys who want to learn the nuances of immigration law. We also offer simulated hearings or “mock trials” to assist attorneys in preparing for actual cases before the immigration court. June 14, 2012 Tennessee Bar Association Webinar: “Post-Conviction Relief and Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions”

 
Sean Lewis is speaking with nationally-recognized expert Norton Tooby on the complex nuances of obtaining post-conviction relief.  This session will cover the implications of Padilla v. Kentucky for obtaining post-conviction relief for immigrants on grounds of ineffective assistance of counsel as well as avoiding such claims by covering the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. This course is recommended for judges and prosecutors as well as criminal defense counsel and has nationwide application.
